Bricsnet N.V. - is the global provider of owner-oriented, ASP-integrated technology, services and information for the process of engineering, construction and operations of commercial buildings. Bricsnet completed an initial public offering in 1999.

Find/SVP, Inc. - provides outsourced information services, including quick consultation via telephone and internet, research services and consulting. We exited this investment through a recapitalization.

FlexiInternational Software, Inc. - develops, markets and supports FlexiFinancials, a full line of high-end, object-oriented client/server accounting software products. FlexiInternational completed an initial public offering in 1997.

TechGnosis International - developed and supported a proprietary line of data access ("middleware") software products under the brand name "SequeLink". TechGnosis merged with Intersolv, a publicly-traded company, in 1995.

Consumer & Restaurants

American Nutrition Superstores - a retailer of vitamin and nutritional supplements through outlets located on military bases. American Nutrition Superstore was acquired by General Nutrition Cos. in 1997.

Amerifit Nutrition, Inc. - develops, sources, markets and distributes niche branded nutritional supplements primarily to mass market retailers. AmeriFIT has introduced a series of distinctive specialty herbs as well as numerous women's wellness, cough and cold, and joint care products. Amerifit Nutrition was sold in 2005.

Au Bon Pain - operated company-owned and franchised bakery-cafes located mainly in high-density commercial sections of metropolitan areas. Au Bon Pain was acquired by Compass Group PLC in 2000.

California Pizza Kitchen, Inc. - operates and franchises full-service casual dining restaurants, which feature an innovative and distinctive selection of specialty pizzas, pastas, salads and desserts. California Pizza Kitchen completed an initial public offering in 2000.

Charrette LLC - is the largest independent business-to-business provider of imaging supplies and equipment to design professionals in the United States. Charrette was aquired by Pitman Company in 2006.

Real MEX Restaurants - is the largest Mexican restaurant chain in California and is well-known for its authentic Mexican cuisine and its assortment of specialty margaritas. Real Mex Restaurants was sold in 2006.

Restaurant Associates - is a diversified, restaurant operator and contract foodservice provider. Restaurant Associates was acquired by Compass Group PLC in 1998.

The Sheridan Group - is a leading specialty printer offering a full range of printing and value-added support services for the journal, specialty magazine, book, catalogue and article reprint market.

Education

CognitiveArts Corporation - is one of the leading providers of on-line learning solutions through its proprietary learning methodology based on "learning by doing and role-playing". CognitiveArts was acquired by NIIT in 2003.

Mulberry Child Care Centers, Inc. - provided high quality child care and after school services in the New England, Mid-Atlantic and Southern California regions. Mulberry was acquired by KinderCare Learning Centers, Inc. in 2001.

NetSchools Corporation - provides an e-learning environment for K-12 schools that combines an Internet-centric curriculum with a notebook computer for every student. NetSchools was acquired by Plato Learning in 2002.

Energy & Industrial

Ascent Energy, Inc. - is an independent energy company engaged in the acquisition, exploitation, exploration, development and production of both conventional and unconventional natural gas and crude oil properties in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and the Appalachian region.

Blacksand Energy - is primarily engaged in the acquisition, development and production of oil and gas properties. Blacksand’s principal asset is the long-life Brea-Olinda oil field located in the LA Basin, onshore California. Blacksand Energy was acquired by Linn Energy in 2006.

Cecilware Holdings LLC - is a leading designer and marketer of innovative beverage dispensing solutions and foodservice equipment.

Dynamic Gunver Technologies LLC - is a major jet engine parts supplier to Pratt & Whitney, Rolls Royce / Allison, Allied Signal and the U.S. Government. Dynamic Gunver Technologies was acquired by Smiths Group PLC in 2004.

Edgen / Murray L.P. - is a leading global distributor and marketer of specialty steel pipe, fittings and flanges for use in niche applications, primarily in the oil and gas, processing and power generation industries.

Kinetek- a manufacturer of specialty motors and controls for use in niche markets.

Matrix Metals LLC - is a global manufacturing, sourcing and distribution business serving the needs of North American-based, industrial users of metal castings. The Company supplies metal castings of all sizes and alloys to customers in a wide variety of industries, such as flow control, locomotive, mining, farm equipment, heavy construction, over the road trucks and rail.

SouthView Energy LLC - is a roll up of operating and non-working interests in smaller oil and gas properties in North America.

Telex Communications, Inc. - is a leader in design, manufacture and marketing of sophisticated audio and wireless communications equipment to commercial, professional and industrial customers. Telex Communications was acquired by Robert Bosch Gmbh in 2006.

W&T Offshore, Inc. - is engaged in the exploration, acquisition, development and production of oil and gas reserves. W&T Offshore completed an initial public offering in 2005.

Healthcare

Ascent Pediatrics, Inc. - developed and marketed pharmaceutical products exclusively for the pediatric market, tailoring existing drug compounds to meet the specific needs of the pediatric market, which include improving both taste and delivery methodology. Ascent Pediatrics merged with a subsidiary of Medicis Pharmaceutical Corporation in 2001.

Digirad Corp. - has developed and begun the commercialization of an advanced medical imaging technology based on a proprietary semi-conductor detector technology. Digirad completed an initial public offering in 2004.

ivpcare, Inc. - is a leading specialty provider of pharmaceuticals and disease state management services to individual suffering from infertility, arthritic, neurological and other disease states which require high cost injectable pharmaceuticals and significant end-user interaction. ivpcare merged with Oncology Therepeutics Network in 2006.

MedicaLogic, Inc. - develops, markets and supports electronic medical record and transcription software and Internet services primarily used in outpatient care delivery and consumer environments. MedicaLogic completed an initial public offering in 1999.

QuadraMed Corp. - is a healthcare information technology company providing software and services to hospitals relating to cost containment, clinical accountability and electronic data interchange (EDI) services. QuadraMed completed an initial public offering in 1997.

Media & Telecommunications

Apartment MediaWorks, LLC - provides private cable television service to residents of multi-dwelling units in the Southeastern United States. Apartment MediaWorks, LLC was acquired by a joint venture of Hicks Holdings and DirectTV in 2006.

Iowa Telecommunications, Inc. - is the second largest local exchange carrier in the state of Iowa and the fifteenth largest local exchange carrier in the nation. The Company provides local exchange, exchange access and intraLATA toll telecommunications services to end-users and exchange access services to interexchange carriers and other LECs. Iowa Telecommunications completed an initial public offering in 2004.

Point Communications, Inc. - Owned and operated a total of 14 radio stations in Madison, Wisconsin (acquired by Capstar Broadcasting Partners in 1997), Savannah, Georgia (acquired by Cumulus Media, Inc. in 1998) and Roanoke/Lynchburg, Virginia market (acquired by Capstar Broadcasting Partners in 1997.)

Repeater Technologies - is a wireless telecommunications equipment company that designs, manufactures and supports a proprietary line of cellular repeater products that enhance the performance coverage area of wireless networks. Repeater completed an initial public offering in 2000.

Transportation

Arnold Transportation Services LLC - is an irregular route and dedicated truck-load motor carrier, specializing in short-haul regional operations. Arnold provides services in the Northeastern, Southeastern and Southwestern regions of the United States. Arnold Transportation Services was acquired by U.S. Xpress Enterprises in 2004.

Aurora Trailer Holdings - is a trailer leasing/rental and wholsale after-market parts distribution company. The leasing operation rents and leases over-the-road truck trailers to a variety of transportation companies, manufacturers and retailers through a network of 30 customer centers located throughout North America. The parts distribution business is a leading marketer of aftermarket and replacement parts and accessories for truck trailers.

K-Sea Transportation LLC - is a leading domestic marine transportation company specializing in the transportation of refined petroleum products. The Company operates a fleet of tank barges, tankers and tug boats along both coasts of the U.S. plus the Gulf of Mexico. K-sea Transportation completed an initial public offering in as a Master Limited Partnership in 2004.

New Century Transportation Inc. - is a specialized motor carrier that transports truckload and less-than-truckload shipments throughout the northeastern and mid-western United States.

Pacific Basin Shipping Limited - owns and operates dry bulk cargo ships that transport raw materials (iron ore, coal, bauxite, aluminum, timber, etc.) utilized in basic industry, as well as other dry commodities such as grain and steel. Pacific Basin completed an initial public offering in 2004.

R&R Trucking - is a niche transportation company specializing in the movement of ammunition, commercial explosives and other hazardous materials.

Transcisco Industries, Inc. - operated eleven railcar maintenance facilities from Georgia to Montana, provided specialty railcar leasing and management services, and owned 23.5% of SovFinAmTrans, Russia's largest private rail transportation services company Trancisco was acquired by Trinity Industries, a NYSE company, in September 1996.

United Maritime Group ("UMG") - operates in three distinct segments of the dry bulk commodity distribution and logistics industry. UMG Ocean Shipping owns the world's largest Jones Act dry bulk transportation fleet with 19 ocean-going ships, tugs and barges that provide coastwise, U.S. flag dry bulk shipping services as well as participating in the U.S. cargo preference trade.
